October pictures at the cabin

We went to the cabin in October. It was just our little family and we had such a nice and relaxing time. The weather was so nice. A little chilly, but very nice. We did go into Panguitch and walked around Main Street. Carter was a little apprehensive to take his picture next to the Cowboy and the Indian.

Quinn took the boys on a little walk. They stopped at the fence to throw sticks and rocks and grass and pinecones and anything else they could find into the little creek.

Somewhere along the way they came across a teepee of sorts that some other kids must have made. The boys enjoyed checking it out and making future plans of teepees.

Gotta have a fire and smores while we are there. That is all the boys can talk about until we finally say, let's go build a fire. Then there is the fact that all they want to do is roast/burn marshmallows but then don't really want to eat them. They keep trying to cook them and then pawn them off on us. There are only so many marshmallows I can eat.

Kittens

We finally had our kittens on the 4th of November. Now, considering that the average pregnancy for a cat is 62 days, I'm guessing she wasn't pregnant when they thought she was. Blast! Hopefully we can get her fixed before we are in this predicament again.

Quinn called me at work on the 4th to say that "kittens are coming out of Slinky - RIGHT NOW!" She had her first one around 3:30. I had a meeting I had to go to that night and the 4th one was born right before I left. A typical litter is 3 to 5 so I was hoping we were done. I got home around 9:00 to find out that the 6th and last one was born around 8:00. Six kittens! What are we going to do with 6 kittens. They will be ready to find good homes right at Christmas time. If anyone wants or knows of anyone that wants a Christmas kitten, just let me know.

We did let the boys watch them being born. There wasn't too much to see so it shouldn't have freaked them out. Everyonce in a while she would pop out a wet little kitten. And, being the good cat that she is, she pushed the towel out of the cardboard box and just had them all in the cardboard box. When she was done, I put a clean towel in a new box, moved everyone over and Quinn threw the yucky box away. Easy peasy!

Halloween

We got the boys all dressed up. Carter was Robin. Being the younger brother makes him content to be the side kick. Miles was a werewolf. Both of their costumes turned out well - thank you Quinn. I dressed up last year for trunk or treating and had a blast so I decided to dress up again, thanks to the good weather. I dressed up as a witch, not too exciting, but then again I said if the shoe fits... Quinn was Harry Potter and spoke in his little English accent all night to the kids. It was fun to dress up but now that we have done it two years in a row Quinn and I think we have set a precedent where we will have to continue to dress up. Don't want to disappoint the fans

.

Halloween Activities

Gardner Village has their witches out each year so I took the boys again. They enjoy all the Halloween decorations and looking for as many witches as they can. The weather was REALLY nice, if not a little warm. Because of that though there were a gazillion people there. I'm not the biggest fan of crowds, but it was fine.

We headed to the Pumpkin Walk in West Jordan this year as well. Each year as the boys get bigger I feel these opportunities will be fleeting. Will they want to do this again next year? In two years? They grow up so stinking fast. They played some games, got some candy and got to ride on the little "train". My favorite was the bobbing for apples. Every single kid there was putting their mouth in the water and all over the apples. I'm surprised we didn't come home with "swine flu". Again, nice weather and lots of people. However people here weren't quite as informed on how a line works. That always frustrates me.
