Kittens

We finally had our kittens on the 4th of November. Now, considering that the average pregnancy for a cat is 62 days, I'm guessing she wasn't pregnant when they thought she was. Blast! Hopefully we can get her fixed before we are in this predicament again.

Quinn called me at work on the 4th to say that "kittens are coming out of Slinky - RIGHT NOW!" She had her first one around 3:30. I had a meeting I had to go to that night and the 4th one was born right before I left. A typical litter is 3 to 5 so I was hoping we were done. I got home around 9:00 to find out that the 6th and last one was born around 8:00. Six kittens! What are we going to do with 6 kittens. They will be ready to find good homes right at Christmas time. If anyone wants or knows of anyone that wants a Christmas kitten, just let me know.

We did let the boys watch them being born. There wasn't too much to see so it shouldn't have freaked them out. Everyonce in a while she would pop out a wet little kitten. And, being the good cat that she is, she pushed the towel out of the cardboard box and just had them all in the cardboard box. When she was done, I put a clean towel in a new box, moved everyone over and Quinn threw the yucky box away. Easy peasy!
