Breathe deep

I had one of those moments as a mother and adult and smart person where Miles asked to do something and all those people were screaming NO WAY, yet I said ok.

Miles came in to me a few weeks ago with a box of matches and asked if I could come with him so he could do something. The box of matches was the first clue that I should be a little wary. We go outside and he has taped to his remote control truck an empty 2 liter soda bottle. In the soda bottle he has placed 5 or 6 sparklers that were left over from last year and then 2 or 3 ground flowers as well. Every ounce of me wanted to say HECK NO you can't light that. He made it look like it was going to be some sort of rocket. Very Toy Story looking. But there was a part of me that was so thankful that he came and asked permission and didn't just sneak around to do it knowing I would say NO that I felt I had to let him do it.

I did convince him to take it off the remote control truck in case it erupted into a fireball. We got it lit and waited. In the end it was a pretty big disappointment. They were old fireworks and they sort of just fizzled out. Miles was disappointed, but at least we let him try his experiment.
