Field trip to Wheeler Farm

I volunteered to help with Carter's field trip to Wheeler Farm. I was so excited that they had it on a day I wasn't working so I could go with Carter. He was so excited for his bus ride.

What a turkey!

Look at those cute little piglets.

It was drizzly and a little cold but we still had a good time.

Memorial Day Weekend

We headed to the cabin for Memorial Day weekend. Our family was there along with Seth and Sarah and their two kids, my parents who brought Samantha and Jordan.
Carter, Samantha, Miles and Tate

Panguitch had a yard sale along their Main Street. We headed down and checked it out. It was just like any other yard sale. Some treasures and lots of junk. Miles did find a Lego backpack and a cool Transformer toy.

Grannie wanted a picture in front of the stagecoach with the grand kids. Poor Jordan would get sucked into the pictures with the little kids. Sometimes Grannie really wanted him in pictures and he would ask, are you serious? Grannie would say, YES! Then she would tell him to go into some other picture that was silly for him to be in and he would head over cuz she was serious last time. Poor Jordan didn't know what to do.

Fire pit and smores time.

All my good looking boys.

Jordan and Grannie. Jordan is having so much fun.

Breathe deep

I had one of those moments as a mother and adult and smart person where Miles asked to do something and all those people were screaming NO WAY, yet I said ok.

Miles came in to me a few weeks ago with a box of matches and asked if I could come with him so he could do something. The box of matches was the first clue that I should be a little wary. We go outside and he has taped to his remote control truck an empty 2 liter soda bottle. In the soda bottle he has placed 5 or 6 sparklers that were left over from last year and then 2 or 3 ground flowers as well. Every ounce of me wanted to say HECK NO you can't light that. He made it look like it was going to be some sort of rocket. Very Toy Story looking. But there was a part of me that was so thankful that he came and asked permission and didn't just sneak around to do it knowing I would say NO that I felt I had to let him do it.

I did convince him to take it off the remote control truck in case it erupted into a fireball. We got it lit and waited. In the end it was a pretty big disappointment. They were old fireworks and they sort of just fizzled out. Miles was disappointed, but at least we let him try his experiment.

Oh how my garden grows

We got our garden all planted last month. Hopefully some of the things will grow. We planted zucchini, peas, cucumbers, cabbage, lettuce, spinach, tomatillos, and 6 tomato plants. I have run out of all my canned tomatoes so I am hoping for a bumber crop of those. We also bought some more raspberry bushes and I hope those do well.

My slave laborers

One of the benefits of my job is that I do get to set my schedule. When Carter was born I switched my schedule to 8 hours Monday, Wednesday's from 4-8 and 8 hours Saturday's. I did that for the babysitting situation. As they got older I switched to 8 hours on Wednesday's and 4 on Saturday's. That has been working well for several years. However, lately our Saturday's have gotten pretty busy and I was needing to find someone to watch the kids more often than not.
A couple months ago I decided to change my Saturday to Friday. I was nervous and hoped that it would work out, but so far so good. I have spent nearly the past 6 years working at least a half day on Saturday. That meant the Saturday morning cleaning the house routine really hasn't been happening. On the first Saturday that I didn't actually have something else, we had a cleaning day. The boys had a blast because of the novelty of it all. I wonder how long it will be before the complaining begins.
