I took Slinky to the Humane Society today to get her vaccinations. We were going to borrow a pet carrier from Leslie and George, but forgot to take it with us on Sunday. I found a box and figured I would try that. I got her in the box and in the car just fine, but I hadn't closed the top of the box so she was in the back by the time I got in the car. I figured I would just let her stay. As long as she wasn't tearing up the car or peeing all over it, I was ok. She didn't like the ride at first, but then wedged herself under the driver seat from the back and stayed there.
I got to the Humane Society and there is a sign that says cats have to be in a carrier. I went in and bought a box like carrier and went back to the car to get Slinky. She didn't want to come out from under the seat. I finally got her out and took her in.
I paid for the vaccination and box and asked them to see if they could tell me how old she was. We had been thinking she was about 4 to 6 months old. I also asked them about the dandruff she has. They brought her back and said, she is about 3 years old. What? I didn't say anything because I didn't want to sound stupid. Then the girl there said, wow, she looks a lot younger than that. I would have thought she was still little. That made me feel not so stupid if she sees animals all the time. They also said the dandruff was normal, she is just a black cat so you see it more visibly. Blah! I have got to figure out what to do about that.
We had to wait a few more minutes for them to take her back. A bunch of dogs came in and were barking and growling at each other and she did not like that. Stuck in a box! They came and got here and then a few minutes later came back and said, we think she is pregnant so we can't give her the vaccination. AAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!! This is exactly what we were trying to avoid. I asked them some questions and hopefully this will be our only set of kittens. If anyone is looking for a kitten, let me know. We will have some ready to go in two or three months. Blurg.
I guess she is like our childhood cat, Oreo.

We thought our cat, Seuss, was much younger than he actually is when he adopted us, too. We figured him for a year or two, and he was five.
ReplyDeleteIs Quinn having a cow about Slinky having kittens?
Quinn's not so excited about the thought of kittens. I'm not so much either. Partially because it is tricky to have her have the kittens and try to get her fixed before she gets pregnant again. The cat tricked us!
